About Cindy

You Don’t Have to Find Your Way Through Grief Alone

When someone you love dies, you don’t simply lose a person.

You may also lose your sense of safety, your identity, your purpose, your relationships, and the future you believed you would have. The world continues moving, but your world has been profoundly changed.

I understand this professionally—and personally.

I’m Cindy Hamill, a Certified Grief Educator, Certified Grief Coach, trauma-informed coach, and bereaved mother. I help grieving parents and women navigating life-altering loss find moments of emotional relief, reconnect with themselves, and begin discovering how life can hold meaning again.

My Life Changed in December 2023

My only son, Malachi, died suddenly from fentanyl poisoning in December 2023. He was 19 years old.

His death was a dividing point in my life; before and after.

Everything I had learned about trauma, emotional healing, the nervous system, and the mind-body connection became profoundly personal. I was no longer learning about grief from a book or supporting it from the outside. I was living it.

I came to understand that grief is not a problem to solve or a series of stages to complete. It is a natural response to loving someone who is no longer physically present.

I also learned how important it is for grief to be witnessed.

We need spaces where we can tell the truth about our loss—
                   without being rushed,
                   judged,
                  fixed,
or asked to make other people more comfortable.

We need practical ways to calm an overwhelmed nervous system and survive the moments when grief feels too heavy to carry. We need permission to experience relief, connection, laughter, meaning, and even aliveness without feeling that we are betraying the person who died.

Most of all, we need hope.

Not the kind of hope that denies what happened, but the kind that gently reminds us that love remains and life is still calling.

Grief Has Many Layers

My understanding of loss did not begin with Malachi’s death.

My life has also been shaped by cancer diagnosis, caregiving, family deaths, major career changes, trauma, and the challenges of raising a child as a single mother. Through these experiences, I learned that one life event can create many different losses and layers of emotional, physical, relational and spiritual change.

We may grieve:

  • The person who died

  • The future we expected to share

  • The role or identity we once held

  • Our sense of safety, certainty, or trust

  • Relationships that changed after the loss

  • The person we were before everything happened

  • The belief that life would unfold in a particular way

These losses deserve to be acknowledged too.

Although I specialize in supporting bereaved parents, I also work with women experiencing other significant losses and transitions. You do not need to prove that your loss is “bad enough” to deserve support.

How I Help

My approach combines compassionate grief education, transformational coaching, emotional-regulation practices, and gentle mind-body tools.

Depending on your needs, our work may include:

  • Talking openly about your loss and having your experience witnessed

  • Understanding what grief is doing emotionally, physically, and mentally

  • EFT/Tapping and grounding practices to calm the nervous system

  • Exploring guilt, anger, fear, regret, numbness, or unresolved emotions

  • Identifying beliefs and patterns that may be making life feel even harder

  • Journaling, meditation, breathwork, and other supportive practices

  • Rebuilding self-trust after life has shattered your assumptions

  • Exploring meaning, hope, and a continuing connection with the person you love

  • Gradually reconnecting with purpose, possibility, and life

There is no formula for grief, so our work will not follow a rigid timeline or “must complete” steps. We begin with where you are and what you need now.

I will not tell you how you should grieve. I will sit beside you, help you understand what you are experiencing, and offer tools that may make the next breath, the next hour, or the next chapter feel more possible.

My Path to This Work

For as long as I can remember, I have been the person others turn to when life becomes difficult.

I began supporting people as a crisis hotline listener and spent nearly three decades in financial services, guiding individuals, families, and professionals through consequential decisions and uncertain times. My own experience with cancer led me into an intensive study of the relationship between thoughts, beliefs, emotions, trauma, and the body.

Over the years, I trained in coaching, grief education, trauma-informed care, EFT/Tapping, NLP, hypnosis, energy work, and other mind-body approaches.

After Malachi died, this work took on a deeper meaning. Supporting people through grief is no longer simply something I have been trained to do. It is part of how I honor my son, what I have lived, and the love that continues.

You Are Allowed to Seek Relief

Grief relief does not mean forgetting.

It does not mean that you are finished grieving, that your loss matters less, or that you must return to the person you were before.

Relief might mean:
Taking one full breath.
      Sleeping a little better.
            Feeling understood.

                  Softening a painful memory.
                        Saying your loved one’s name.
Noticing a sign or meaningful connection.
                                    Laughing without immediately feeling guilty.
Beginning to imagine that life might someday hold something more than survival.

You can deeply miss the person you love and still care for the life that remains.

If you are a bereaved parent or a woman navigating a life-altering loss, I would be honored to meet you.

Schedule a complimentary consultation, and we can talk about what you are experiencing, what kind of support you need, and whether working together feels right.

You don’t have to know exactly what comes next. We can begin with where you are.

Let's start a conversation.
